An der Fakultät für Physik und Astronomie der Universität Würzburg ist ab 01.04.2015 eine Stelle  für  eine Universitätsprofessorin / einen Universitätsprofessor der BesGr. W3 im Beamtenverhältnis auf Lebenszeit für

Theoretische Physik
(Nachfolge Prof. Dr. W. Kinzel)

zu besetzen.

Gesucht wird eine international ausgewiesene theoretische Physikerin oder ein theoretischer Physiker mit der Forschungsrichtung Quantentheorie, insbesondere Quanteninformation, Quantenthermodynamik oder Anwendungen der AdS/CFT-Korrespondenz in Festkörper- und Teilchenphysik.
Das engere Arbeitsgebiet soll die bestehenden Arbeitsrichtungen der Fakultät für Physik und Astronomie  thematisch und methodisch sinnvoll ergänzen und darüber hinaus auch Anknüpfungspunkte für interdisziplinäre Zusammenarbeit bieten.
Zu den Aufgaben gehört es, das Fachgebiet in Forschung und Lehre zu vertreten. Erwartet werden die Beteiligung an den Lehraufgaben der Fakultät im Fach Theoretische Physik.

Einstellungsvoraussetzungen sind ein abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium, pädagogische Eignung, Promotion und Habilitation oder gleichwertige wissenschaftliche Leistungen. Die zusätzlichen wissenschaftlichen Leistungen können auch außerhalb des Hochschulbereiches oder im Rahmen einer Juniorprofessur erbracht worden sein. Bewerber dürfen das 52. Lebensjahr zum Zeitpunkt der Ernennung noch nicht vollendet haben (Ausnahmen sind in dringenden Fällen gem. Art. 10 Abs. 3 Satz 2 Bayerisches Hochschulpersonalgesetz möglich). Die Universität Würzburg misst einer intensiven Betreuung der Studierenden und Promovierenden große Bedeutung zu und erwartet von den Lehrenden ein entsprechendes Engagement. Die Universität strebt eine Erhöhung des Anteils der Professorinnen an und bittet Wissenschaftlerinnen ganz besonders, sich zu bewerben.  Schwerbehinderte Bewerberinnen oder Bewerber werden bei ansonsten im Wesentlichen gleicher Eignung bevorzugt eingestellt.

Theoretical Physics

at the Institute for Theoretical Physics Astrophysics, Faculty of Physics and Astronomy, Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg, Germany.

Applications are sought from candidates who will reinforce or complement the facultys existing research strenghts. The post holder should have expertise in quantum theory, particularly quantum information, quantum thermodynamics or applications of the AdS/CFT correspondence in solid state and particle physics.
Applicants should have a university degree in physics or a related discipline, university level teaching experience, and additional academic qualifications. The latter should be in the form of a Habilitation or evidence of an ecquivalent research track record.
The appointee will be expected to lead, support and develop education and training within the field of Theoretical Physics, engaging with both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Candidates will have a track record of publishing in international peer-reviewed journals and should have demonstrated competence in defining research projects and attracting research funding.
