Quantum computers are expected to enable new first-principles calculations of some regions of QCD, where the conventional sign problem arises.
Related to this, the Schwinger model (1+1d QED) has been attracting attention as a good testing ground because it shares several properties with QCD.
Many studies have recently been done using new computational methods, quantum algorithms and tensor network, in Hamiltonian formalism for the Schwinger model.
In this talk, I will discuss recent progress and future prospects for computing these gauge field theories in Hamiltonian formalism.
