Würzburg Seminar on Quantum Field Theory and Gravity

I will discuss the canonical quantization of quantum cosmology on toroidal universes. In this framework, the wavefunctions are automorphic forms, and the Wheeler–DeWitt equation becomes a dynamical equation on moduli space, so quantum cosmology can be viewed as “automorphic dynamics”. This perspective sheds new light on the Hartle–Hawking state and uncovers unexpected links to number theory.
