Academic & Awards Ceremony

Academic Ceremony of the Faculty with the awarding of the Röntgen Science Prizes and the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Dissertation Prize

On the first Monday after the anniversary of the awarding of the first Nobel Prize in Physics on December 10, 1901, to Prof. Dr. W. C. Röntgen, the traditional annual academic celebration of the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy takes place in the Neubaukirche as part of the “Physics Colloquium.”

As part of this celebration, the Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen Science Awards of the Physics Institute for outstanding dissertations and the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Dissertation Award for outstanding research achievements in a dissertation and its excellent communication in writing and speech will be presented.

Event Details

This year's celebration will take place on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 4:15 p.m. in the Neuaukirche (university auditorium).

Access to the Neubaukirche is via the courtyard of the Old University, Domerschulstraße 16. Following the academic ceremony, the faculty invites you to a reception in the foyer of the Neubaukirche.
