The Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg,
Faculty of Physics and Astronomy,
Institute of Theoretical Physics and Astronomy
provides a
W2 Professorship
for
Theoretical Quantum Information and Quantum Optics

We are looking for strong candidates who are able to reinforce or complement the existing research activities at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy and the Cluster of Excellence ct.qmat. The candidates should have particular expertise in the areas of Theoretical Quantum Information, Theoretical Quantum Optics, and/or Theoretical Quantum Dynamics. Research activities could be related to a better understanding of entanglement and resulting applications thereof, the development of theoretical concepts for topological quantum optics, and/or the theoretical analysis of quantum dynamics (away from thermal equilibrium).

Applicants should have a university degree in physics or a related discipline, university level teaching experience, and academic qualifications. The latter should be in the form of a Habilitation or evidence of an equivalent research track record. The appointee is expected to lead, support and develop education and training within the field of Theoretical Physics, engaging with both undergraduate and graduate students. Candidates should have a track record of publishing in international peer-reviewed journals and demonstrated competence in defining research projects and attracting external funding.

Applicants must not be older than 51 at the time of their appointment (exceptions in urgent cases can be made according to Art. 10, para. 3, clause 2 Bayerisches Hochschulpersonalgesetz).
