I received my Bachelor of Science degree in applied mathematics in 2006 and a Master's Degree in physics in 2010 both from the University of New Mexico. I am currently a fellow of the Center for Quantum Information and Control (CQuIC) at the University of New Mexico and am continuing my PhD research there under the direction of Ivan Deutsch.
I did work at UNM in the foundations of quantum mechanics, studying the open-system dynamics of large systems of non-interacting spin-1/2 particles and the time evolution of associated collective angular momentum observables under local symmetric decoherence processes. I have also done work on the theory of continuous optical probing of large spin-1/2 and higher-spin systems. The goal is to develop filtering equations for particles with realistic hyperfine structure without neglecting spontaneous emission both for photon counting and continuous polarization quadrature measurements.
I have come to the University of Wurzburg for a 4 month research project with Dr. Assaad, studying a mean-field model for 2-D topological insulators.
