    Themen

    A. CLASSICAL BLACK HOLES

    - Vacuum solutions of Einstein’s equation - the Schwarzschild solution

Birkhoff's theorem, the Eddington-Finkelstein coordinates; Krushkal extension and eternal black holes; conformal

      compactification and Carter-Penrose diagram

    - Gravitational collapse - the Oppenheimer-Snyder solution

    - Charged and rotating black holes - Cauchy horizons, ergosphere

    - The laws of black hole thermodynamics

REFERENCES: We will cover parts of the beautiful review article https://arxiv.org/pdf/gr-qc/9707012.pdf

    B. BLACK HOLES AND QUANTUM MECHANICS

    - An introduction to QFT on curved spacetime

    - A derivation of Hawking radiation - Hawking's original formulation of the information paradox

    - The “holography of information” - information paradox in AdS/CFT, the Page curve and Islands.

    - Firewall, fuzzball, complementarity - possible resolutions of the information paradox, interior reconstruction and state dependence

    - Wormholes

REFERENCES: For the QFT on curved spacetime we will use the book by Birrell and Davies.
For the other topics, we will mostly follow research articles. I shall mention those during the lectures.
