Postdoctoral Researcher Akademische Rätin / Akademischer Rat auf Zeit (A13)
The Chair of Theoretical Physics II at the Institute for Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics, University of Würzburg, invites applications for a postdoctoral position as Akademische Rätin / Akademischer Rat auf Zeit (German civil-service pay grade A13).
The initial appointment is for three years, with the possibility of an extension for up to a further three years. The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date. The exact starting date is negotiable. We welcome applications from candidates working in particle phenomenology and related areas of theoretical particle physics. Particular interests include precision collider phenomenology, higher-order QCD and electroweak calculations, scattering amplitudes, and computational methods. The position offers ample freedom to develop an independent research profile and further academic qualification (e.g. Habilitation). Duties include research, the supervision of students, and teaching in theoretical physics with a load of 5 semester hours per week during the lecture period (5 SWS) Applicants must hold a PhD in theoretical particle physics or a closely related field by the time of appointment. Appointment requires that the applicable requirements under German and Bavarian civil-service law are met; where they are not, employment under a comparable fixed-term contract may be considered.
