Now four decades since its inception, the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) has become a key framework in the search for physics beyond the Standard Model. This talk will trace the evolution of the SMEFT from its conceptual foundations to its modern role in precision collider analyses. In particular, we will survey recent advances, practical applications, and ongoing challenges that define the current frontiers of SMEFT research.
