Higgs phenomenology and the treatment of unstable particles in quantum field theories
Abstract
The exploration of the detected Higgs signal and searches for additional Higgs states are discussed in view of the quest for revealing the underlying physics of electroweak symmetry breaking. Precise theoretical predictions in this context require a careful treatment of effects related to the occurrence of unstable particles. In general also CP-violating effects arising from complex parameters in the Higgs sector need to be taken into account. Some examples that are relevant for Higgs phenomenology are highlighted.
