At the Physik Sommerfest 2026, the Topological Beavers, representing TEP, won the traditional volleyball tournament.

On June 12, 2026, in Room SE6 of the Physics Institute, Mr. Florian Rothmayr presented the findings of his dissertation, titled “Resonant Photodetectors and Their Application in Optical Gas Sensing,” at a public doctoral defense, and subsequently successfully answered questions from the examiners and the audience.

First‑year PhD student Justus‑Amadeus Walther has been awarded a JMU Mobility Fellowship by JMU President Prof. Dr. Paul Pauli to support a research stay at the Quantum Matter Institute (QMI) at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver.
