Using Low-level information from Detectors to perform selections
We will give a brief introduction to how experimental particle physicists go from raw detector signals to reconstructed events. We will explain what detectors like ATLAS and Belle II measure and how this information can be used to reconstruct object-level particles and full events. We will briefly touch upon the different fiducial regions that are useful for separating signal and background. To make things more concrete, we will go through one example using a recent ATLAS analysis.
