In this lecture, I will introduce the concept of the pump-probe technique. I will explain how it is applied to photoemission spectroscopy to perform time-resolved ARPES and access the ultrafast dynamics of excited states of materials. I will then illustrate the capabilities of time-resolved ARPES with pedagogical cases.
