Title: The muon magnetic moment: A field theoretical and a holographic approach
16. April 2026 - Physik West SE 22.00.017 - 2:15 p.m.

The anomalous magnetic moment (g − 2) of the muon is one of the most precisely measured quantities in particle physics. As a precision observable, it provides a stringent test of the Standard Model. The main challenge, however, is to reconcile the measured value with the theoretical prediction, which receives quantum corrections from all sectors of the Standard Model, with the dominant uncertainties arising from hadronic contributions. In this talk, we will introduce the muon g − 2 and explain how it comes about in quantum field theory. We will then compute its leading one-loop QED contribution and briefly review the role of electroweak and hadronic corrections, the latter being the most problematic ones. We will then introduce the basic AdS/QCD dictionary and discuss how holography can be used to study quantities that are structurally hard to compute in strongly coupled QCD by mapping them to a weakly coupled higher-dimensional gravitational description.
