Mission Statement – EP1
At EP1, we are exploring the frontiers of light-matter interactions and driving forward research in the fields of topological photonics and lasers, quantum light, correlated many-body physics, and the dynamic aspects of hybrid quantum systems.
Our work is driven by the desire to uncover fundamentally new physical phenomena and to translate these into groundbreaking photonic and quantum technologies. We are committed to research that is responsible, forward-looking and of significance to both science and society.
Through curiosity, collaboration and scientific rigour, we aim to shape the future of quantum photonics whilst fostering an open, inclusive and engaged research environment.
We are an active member of the ctd.qmat Cluster of Excellence and share its mission to unravel complexity, topology and dynamics in quantum matter. Our members can take part in the cluster’s events, and students can enrol in the Quantum Matter Academy (QMA), which offers young researchers excellent support and networking opportunities.
We are deeply committed to teaching and science communication through lectures, seminars and laboratory practicals, as well as through public engagement activities aimed at the wider community. At the Chair, we strive to offer Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students a comprehensive education and research experience. Apart from specific job vacancies, we are always on the lookout for dedicated researchers interested in joining EP1. Simply send an email to ep1-recruiting@uni-wuerzburg.de.
Facilities
In addition to our existing state-of-the-art optics laboratories, we are currently refurbishing and constructing new laboratories that will shape the future of EP1. Cleanroom work is carried out in the excellent facilities of the Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen Centre for Complex Material Systems (RCCM) .
