Panel discussion at the opening of the "RETHINKING PHYSICS" exhibition
01/20/2025On January 17th took place the official opening of RETHINKING PHYSICS, an exhibition organized by the Cluster of Excellence ct.qmat at the Universities of Würzburg and Dresden. This exhibition highlights the vital role of women in science. It features portraits of female researchers passionate about physics, serving as role models for the next generation of young women.
In Würzburg, the exhibition was launched with several inspiring speeches from local politicians and representatives of the university, followed by a panel discussion with four female physicists in various stages of their careers. Adriana was one of them. "2025 celebrates 100 years of quantum mechanics and has been declared by the United Nations as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. While women in physics benefit today from significantly improved conditions compared to the past century – such as better access to education and research and more support for balancing work and family life – there’s still room for improvement. We need to ensure that far more girls and young women discover their passion for physics and quantum science,” she shared.
The portraits will be on display at the Martin von Wagner Museum at the University of Würzburg until February 2nd. Afterwards, the exhibition will travel to 50 locations worldwide, including Australia and the USA. Further information about the project can be found on the RETHINKING PHYSICS website, as well as a TV report on the exhibition.
