International Masterclasses
In 2013, Peter Higgs and François Englert were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for their theory explaining how the smallest building blocks of our matter acquire mass. They had already put forward their theories in 1964, but only almost 50 years later that scientists at the CERN research centre in Geneva were able to prove the theory when they discovered the Higgs particle in 2012.
Would you like to find out more about the history of this exciting discovery? Would you like to search for the Higgs boson yourself in real CERN data? Would you like to gain an insight into current particle physics? Then come to the International Masterclass "Hands on particle physics" at the University of Würzburg on 30 March 2023! You will learn about research methods in particle physics and share your results with participants from other European research institutions.
Who can take part?
All interested students from 10th to 12th grade
When?
30 March 2023, 9:30-17:00
Where?
