Title: Precision Tests of the Standard Model: Hadronic Effects in the Muon g-2
11. June 2026 - Physik West SE 22.00.017 - 2:15 p.m.

As experimental precision has improved, so has the potential to discover new physics through precision tests of the Standard Model (SM). One such test is the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, which has displayed tension between the measured value and theoretical predictions of the SM. We will review higher-order corrections in the calculation of the muon’s magnetic moment with focus on the non-pertubative hadronic contributions, which dominate the uncertainty of the SM prediction. Different approaches are discussed, namely the traditional data-driven dispersive method and lattice calculations. Special emphasis is placed on the two main hadronic diagrams:  Hadronic Vacuum Polarization (HVP) and Hadronic Light-by-Light scattering (HLbL).
