JMU Mobility Fellowship awarded to Justus‑Amadeus Walther
13.05.2026First‑year PhD student Justus‑Amadeus Walther has been awarded a JMU Mobility Fellowship by JMU President Prof. Dr. Paul Pauli to support a research stay at the Quantum Matter Institute (QMI) at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver.
The Julius‑Maximilians‑Universität Würzburg has awarded a JMU Mobility Fellowship to Justus‑Amadeus Walther, a doctoral researcher in the BMFTR‑funded Nachwuchsgruppe Ferro35 at the Chair of Technische Physik.
The fellowship recognizes his early scientific achievements and supports international research mobility for promising young scientists.
During his stay in the research group of Professor Ke Zou, Walther will work on oxide molecular beam epitaxy (oxide‑MBE), focusing on the growth and characterization of complex oxide materials. His project builds on his doctoral work in epitaxial semiconductor and oxide heterostructures within Ferro35. The exchange strengthens the long-standing collaboration between JMU and UBC and promotes cross‑institutional research in advanced quantum photonic and optoelectronic materials.
The JMU Mobility Fellowship is part of the university’s initiative to foster international research experience and academic exchange among early‑career scientists.
