Congratulations to Borislav Petrović on the Successful Defense of His PhD Dissertation!
30.01.2026Mr. M.Sc. Borislav Petrović presented the results of his doctoral dissertation entitled “Design Optimization and Realization of Interband Cascade Lasers Beyond the Sweet-Spot Operation Wavelength” on January 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in SE 6 at the Institute of Physics during a public doctoral colloquium. Following his presentation, he successfully addressed the questions posed by the examination committee and the audience.
Mr. M.Sc. Borislav Petrović, from the research group of Prof. Dr. Sven Höfling co-supervised by Dr. Fabian Hartmann, successfully presented the results of his doctoral dissertation entitled “Design Optimization and Realization of Interband Cascade Lasers Beyond the Sweet-Spot Operation Wavelength” during his public PhD defense on 30 January 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in SE 6 at the Institute of Physics.
Following his presentation, Mr. Petrović confidently answered the questions posed by the examination committee and the audience, thereby completing his doctoral degree with great success.
Under the chairmanship of the examination committee, Mr. Petrović presented his research, which focuses on the design, optimization, and experimental realization of interband cascade lasers operating beyond their conventional sweet-spot wavelength regime. His work contributes significantly to advancing laser performance and extends the operational flexibility of interband cascade laser devices, which are of high relevance for applications in mid-infrared photonics and sensing technologies.
The dissertation presents important technological and scientific advances in the field of semiconductor laser physics, particularly with regard to device optimization strategies and the realization of novel operating regimes. These results open new perspectives for the application of interband cascade lasers in spectroscopy, gas sensing, and other mid-infrared applications.
The entire Chair of Technical Physics congratulates Dr. Borislav Petrović on his successful PhD defense and wishes him continued success in his future academic and professional career.
