The Faculty for Physics and Astronomy of the University of Würzburg invites applications for a position of a Junior Research Group Leader in the field of
Novel Quantum Materials
for a duration of up to five years.
We are seeking an internationally recognized experimental physicist in the research area „Growth and characterisation of Novel Quantum Materials using Molecular Beam Epitaxy“. Thereby we envisage, for instance, topological materials or oxide heterostructures. We expect that the materials are investigated in close collaboration with colleagues of the faculty (for example in the framework of the Collaborative Research Centre 1170 Tocotronics).
We are pleased to offer you an opportunity to conduct independent research in your field, leading your own junior research group with members of your choice (one postdoc and one doctoral researcher) for a duration of up to 5 years. Salary is governed by the Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst der Länder (Collective Agreement for the Public Service of German Federal States, TV-L). Applicants should have several years of research experience, preferably internationally acquired, on topics supplementing the research activities of the faculty.
Moreover, we expect a university degree with high marks, a doctorate with distinction, publications in international journals and a passion for teaching (5 weekly contact hours).
The University of Würzburg is an equal opportunity employer. As such, we explicitly encourage applications from women. Equally qualified applicants with disabilities will receive preferential consideration.
Please submit your complete application documents (statement on research strategy including milestones, cover letter, CV, list of publications) by email as one, single, attached file (no more than 10 Mb) by 31 May, 2017 to the faculty (firstname.lastname@example.org). In case of questions please contact Professor Sven Höfling (email@example.com), Professor Laurens Molenkamp (firstname.lastname@example.org) (molecular beam epitaxy) or Professor Ralph Claessen (email@example.com) (CRC 1170 Tocotronics).
