X-Ray microscopy, especially in the soft x-ray regime, has become a universal tool for various types of investigations. This is fundamentally based on the sensitivity of the x-ray absorption near edge structure to various phenomena, as chemical valence, local order, hybridization and last but not least magnetism. Therefore, the MPI-IS, Dept. Schütz, is operating at the HZB BESSY 2 storage ring a state of the art UHV scanning transmission microscope (STXM: MAXYMUS), which is also able to perform high resolution experiments at high excitation frequencies up to 30 GHz. In this talk a short introduction to the MAXYMUS microscope and its applications will be presented, also showing a recent example on the skyrmion phase diagram of the van der Waals magnet Fe3GeTe2 .
