Our extensive review Polymer-fullerene bulk heterojunction solar cells has been published by the Journal Reports on Progress in Physics. It covers the physical function of organic bulk heterojunction and bilayer solar cells, their state-of-the-art performance and limitations, as well as novel concepts to achieve a better material stability and higher power conversion efficiencies. A brief view on processing and cost / market potential is also included.
Also, our progress report on the Role of the charge transfer state in organic donor-acceptor solar cells has been finally published online by the Journal Advanced Materials.

One of our priorities in research is fundamental understanding of processes in the photogeneration of charges in organic solar cells by modelling and simulations. During his diploma thesis, Thomas Strobel enhanced the concept of our previous Monte Carlo simulations by considering the finite length of polymer chains. Based on his simulations, we were able to describe the origin of the high yield of charge generation in polymer-fullerene solar cells. Today, the work was published in Phys. Rev. Lett. 103, 036402 (2009).
